John Denver became a star through the folk-inspired songs he wrote, most of them situated in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. grew up in Roswell New Mexico. He fell in love Colorado. He later made his way to Aspen. Denver's famous anthems about Colorado have been a major influence on many to relocate to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame stated it was because John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. In the year 2011, Denver was chosen as the first Hall of Fame inductee. He is now Colorado's international image. While traveling, I will meet people on the other end of the planet. Like, for instance, someone who is from New Zealand. And when someone asks you if you're originally from Colorado you will get "Oh John Denver!" Brown stated. Denver's first Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief time in folk-based group was Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the track inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version of the song and realized the song would be an instant hit in the top 10. Following the performance on stage in Washington D.C. to a large audience, Denver released the song a couple of days afterward.
